Thermal Hair Straightening or Thermal Reconditioning
Thermal Hair Straightener means beside using hair reconditioning products, you need to use heat source, and where is the heat coming from? Flat Iron. Just compare it to perms: exothermic means using heat from activator mixed with the perm solution, endothermic waves using plastic cap to cover hair during processing and under the dryer. This is also called Reconstructing, or Reconditioning. It all means the same thing. Basically what this service does, the chemical solution Thio breaks down the disulfide bonds of the hair to take a new shape ( straight from frizzy ). When hair is straight, we rinse hair, leaving 20 percent moisture for thermal process that will be performed with flat iron. This process will make hair shiny and silky. This is a time consuming operation and demand some endurance from the stylist. Of course, it does cost more than cold process, it is more technical and takes more time. The flat iron will break the hydrogen bonds of the hair that is at about 20% humidity. In other words, you will not get nice curls when you do roller sets with dry hair and not using the dryer. And you will not straight dry hair as much as hair 20 percent humid. Once this process done, we use a neutralizer to lock hair straight and balance the Ph in reducing the alcalinity, the manufacturer requires to keep the neutralizer for a specific amount of minutes, then rinsing hair straight as possible, towel dry hair, and apply the leave in conditioner.
The whole hair reconditioning service could take up to eight hours. Factors such density, porosity, lenght and determining factors for time duration. Getting the service at the lowest rate is not the primary concern you should have. Question such as : how many you did? This should not be a concern, Hair Straightening is similar to a perm. We use the same Thio solution. Stronger the straightener solution is, stronger it will smell, why ? because it is more alcaline. For thermal reconditioning process, we generally add one stop to the cold process, i.e. flat ironing which must be done in a special way with professional ceramic flat iron that could control the heat.
If you are getting TR done outside Canada, it could happen it did in fact cost you cheaper for this service, but we do not match the pricing you pay in foreign countries. Products originated from Japan could cost more than U.S.A., therefore, the final cost is more. Salon staff could have followed special training in Japan.
These professional haircare products are NOT available in drugstores, some are imported from Japan. Different formulas that could be used depending if you have virgin hair which is strong enough to take strong and harsh chemical (normal), haircoloring up to 20 volume (chemically treated) or 30 volume and over (sensitive is gentle and kind to the hair). TR consultation Hair Relaxer
The end result of thermal or cold hair relaxer depends on how the stylist follows the instructions from the product manufacturer.

Consultation fees are $50 and it is deductible upon service completion ( duration of consultation is about one hour ), $50 cancellation fees is paid up front at the consultation but it is reimbursable if you show up for your appointment.
